More than 65 participants joined the virtual seminar ” Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching (ELT)” on June 29th, 2021. This seminar was co-organized by The Office of Science Management and International Affairs (FPT Education) with the English Linguistics Department FPT University Hanoi Campus and English Linguistics Department of FPT University Can Tho Campus.
The event has witnessed the participation of Ms. Nguyen Kim Anh, Vice-Rector of FPT University; the Head of English Linguistics Department of FPT University Hanoi Campus, Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Hoa; the Head of English Linguistics Department of FPT University Can Tho Campus, Dr. Nguyen Hong Chi; The Acting Head of Science Management and International Affairs Office, Ms. Ho Thi Thao Nguyen, four speakers as well as numerous lecturers and staff from different units of FPT Education.

Through her presentation at the seminar, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Lan also sharing the way to adopt social media into English class by motivating the topic “The untapped potential of social media in English language teaching and learning in a Vietnamese university”. Her presentation made many participants be interested in and engage in the Q&A session.

Sharing experiences in organizing teaching activities for the topic: “Contributing factors to the successful online learners of English”, Mr. Hoang Duc Doan aroused the interest of the listeners on indicating the key factors that made more teacher-student interaction in online teaching. Also at the seminar, many suggestions were made for the teaching and learning method as well as the other modules to achieve higher efficiency in practice.

The seminar is a part of the FPT University’s development plan to create a forum in which FPT Education (FE) lecturers and staff can meet, share and exchange their experiences and knowledge with each other. As a result, the seminar might enable to promote the research and teaching activities in the future.
